Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to test dozens of different tyres over hundreds of thousands of kilometres and there’s never been anything like the Cooper STT PRO.
I’ve been running the older Cooper STTs on the Dirty 30 for a couple of years now and they’re an impressive tyre – they’ve tackled everywhere in Australia and stood up to everything I could throw at them. My first thought when driving on the STT PROs is that Cooper Tires has taken everything that made the STT such a brilliant tyre and then stepped it up another level.
I’m currently running them on both the Dirty 30 and 4WD Action’s Zero Dollar Zook and they’ve taken a whole lot of punishment in a whole range of different terrain – I’ve torture-tested their tread clearing ability by slogging through diff-deep mud in the south of Tassie, pushed their grip to the limits by tackling the wet rainforest tracks of New South Wales’ Mid North Coast and in three months I’ve driven around 10,000 kays combining tough tracks and high speed touring and they’ve continued to impress me. The STT PROs have already proved themselves as incredibly capable off-road tyres, without sacrificing on-road comfort and performance – even on a big, heavy truck like the Dirty 30.
STT PROs are packed with advanced technology and they were extensively tested right here in some of the harshest parts of Australia. The combination of the infused silica compound, modern tread design, excellent strength and puncture resistance along with thousands of hours of testing plus research and development means Cooper Tires has released a real game-changer. There’s finally a tyre that’ll do it all from high speed towing on red dirt highways to crawling over razor-sharp rocks… and the real winner is 4WDers.
