Cooper STT

80% - Dirt & Mud
20% - Road & Sand

Bob Duncan says the new Cooper STT is the only 4WD tyre to protect
the weakest point - the rubber gaps between the cords.

Bob Duncan of Duncan's Offroad in Brisbane has spent the last 10 years leading more than 500 vehicles through the outback on all makes of tyres. He has seen first hand which tyres you can rely on. Bob shares his experience, "It's Cooper STT's by a long shot."

In 10 years Bob Duncan has travelled over a million kilometres on Coopers and had only 5 flat tyres.

Now after travelling 13,500 kilometres across Australia from Byron Bay in the east to Cape Cuvier in the west and back testing Cooper's new STT's Bob's smile is even wider. Here is his report on his trip which took him and a convoy of 18 4WD vehicles across rough terrain, mud, sand, gravel, and some coarse sealed roads.

"As my vehicle was carrying the food for the group it was fully loaded throughout the trip. Yet my vehicle behaved as if on sealed roads in all conditions. We had no punctures and very low tyre wear. Most of the group of 18 vehicles were on Cooper tyres and at a number of points along the way we were told how each driver was very pleased they had chosen Cooper tyres."

Terry Smith, who distributes Cooper in Australia explained to Bob what makes this new STT so special. "Cooper has taken its existing outstanding two ply STT tyre and added a third ply, but not just a normal third ply."

In a normal 4WD tyre there are rubber gaps between the sidewall cords. The rubber gaps are the weakest point of the tyre. A nail, a stake or sharp outback grass can push against the sidewall cord, deflect off and penetrate through the weakest point, (the rubber) and you get a flat. What Cooper has done is put in a third ply on an angle. It's called Armor-Tek3 technology and it's unique to Cooper. While some other 4WD tyres have three plies, none of them have the Armor-Tek3 angle ply.

Now 33% stronger in the sidewalls and 2.5 times more resistant to tearing, the new STT is the closest thing you'll get to having a coat of armour on your tyres."

Bob Duncan believes it's constant improvements like this that make Cooper Tires Australia's fastest growing 4WD tyre brand."

So who would Bob Duncan recommend the new Cooper STT's to? "I recommend the new STT's to anyone who hates changing flat tyres."
